Some of more than 500 New Year cards sent by children across the country to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha turned out to be wishes for the PM to be less angry and smile more.
Of the cards put on display at Government House, one read "Happy New Year to You" in English and "Wishing the PM good health and long life -- and don't be so hot-headed. Don't rage [about things so much] because it's not good. Smile more."
Most of the cards contained a colourful drawing of Gen Prayut, some depicting him in military uniform. These were accompanied by good wishes, both in Thai and English.
The cards were displayed for kids who will visit Government House for National Children's Day this Saturday.
Meanwhile the prime minister on Tuesday met with a group of students to promote Teachers' Day on Jan 16. Asked by the PM what they wanted to be when they grew up, one student said a soldier.
But when he asked students if any of them wanted to become prime minister, they all shook their heads and said there was too much work involved.
