Two celebrated Japanese pianists, Tetsu Mashiko and Masaki Nishihara, will return to Bangkok to give a piano duo recital, which pays tribute to several Brazilian composers, at Sala Sudasiri Sobha on Oct 25 at 8.15pm.
Entitled "Homage To Brazilian Composers", the concert's evening programme will commence with Bach's All Glory Be To God On High.
As the concert is held to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of famous Brazilian composer/pianist Ernesto Nazareth, the programme will feature many of his works including Brejeiro (Rogue), Nene (Baby), Apanhei-te, Cavaquinho (I Got You, Ukulele), Travesso (Mischievous), Espalhafatoso (Flashy), Bambino (Little Boy) and many more.
The duo will also perform pieces by other Brazilian composers such as Pixinguinha's Carinhoso (Affectionate), Francisco Mignone's Valsa-Choro No. 11 and Humorous Serenade, Radames Gnattali's Obrigado Paulinho (Thanks To Paulinho), and Aloysio de Alencar Pinto's Quebra O Coco, Menina (Hey, Break A Coconut).
Tetsu and Masaki have performed as a duo since 2001 and given more than 150 performances in Tokyo.
They gained worldwide attention through YouTube and have performed works composed by musicians from all over the world, from classical pieces by Bach to modern ouvres by John Cage. Some composers have also written new pieces for them.
Tickets cost 500 baht and proceeds will go towards the Gift Of Life Foundation to help needy blood-disease patients. Seats are limited.
