The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has postponed its consideration of the findings of the probe into luxury watches worn by Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon until Thursday.

NACC secretary-general Worawit Sookboon said this will be the only item on the agenda when the commissioners meet at 9am. A press briefing is expected to follow in which the NACC will rule if there are grounds to the allegations against the deputy prime minister, who stands accused of concealing his wealth.

Gen Prawit's assets came under scrutiny when he was spotted wearing a platinum Richard Mille RM 029 valued at about 2.5 million baht, and a diamond ring at a Government House event on Dec 4, 2017. The items, and the other watches that came to light later, were not included in his declared assets to the NACC.

The agency has launched a probe into his possession of 25 luxury watches from various brands. According to Mr Worawit, the meeting was deferred because the NACC met for nine hours and the matter was still buried under other issues. Another reason was that one commissioner, Pol Gen Sathaporn Laothong, was absent for health reasons.

A source said on Wednesday the NACC is likely to be presented with two options by a panel. One is to give the panel more time to gather information and the other is to drop the case, as the panel has only obtained limited information.
