Police on Monday were hunting a man after his wife's body was found buried at their house in Bangkok's Thung Kru district on Sunday night. He earlier reported her missing.

The body of Isada Usapian, 35, was found after relatives called in an undertaker to check out a sand pile in the grounds of the 300-square-metre property on Soi Pracha Uthit 86 in Bang Mod sub-district.

They uncovered her body, buried about 60 centimetres deep.

Relatives had become suspicious because her husband, Nop Soponwasu, 36, had disappeared from the house after reporting his wife missing.

Police said the exhumed body had a bullet wound in the back of the head and a stab wound in the back. They suspect the husband murdered her.

The couple, who had four children, had been property brokers but closed their business because of emotional issues. Lately, they had argued a lot, police said.

On Feb 17, Mr Nop told police that his wife had been missing since Feb 4.

A security guard at the housing estate said that two truckloads of sand were delivered to the house on Feb 4.
