Officials raided a bar on Bangla Walking Street in Phuket on Wednesday night, arresting two women for allegedly providing girls for visitors and rescuing six girls from the business.

The raid was in response to a tip from Operation Underground Railroad, an anti-human trafficking organisation from the United States.

Officials went to Velvet bar on Wednesday night to check the complaint. They arrested two women and charged them with procurement of girls and unlicensed bar operation, officials said.

Officials also found six young women aged under 18 at a nearby hotel. The girls were treated as human trafficking victims and rescued from prostitution.
