Marc and Bright talk about playing Marc and Bright

For more than three decades, GMM Grammy has been discovering young talent. Their latest competition, GMM25 New Face, has attracted teens from all around the country to see if they have what it takes. This year, eight new performers were chosen to star in the TV series, Love Song Love Series: Rao Rak Nai (I Love You), which just ended last month.

The show featured Thanat Rattanasiriphan (Marc) and Wachirawit Chivaaree (Bright). They played best friends - also called Marc and Bright - who promised each other that they wouldn’t date anybody until they finished their studies. Many will recognise 17-year-old Marc from his time as a singer at Kamikaze. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Bright previously co-hosted the show Strawberry Krub Cake and acted in the series, Love Say Hey and I Sea U.

S Weekly met up with the two young stars at the GMM25 office where they told us about acting.

Why did you decide to enter GMM25 New Face?

Marc: I was a singer but I was finding it difficult to get my break. I was also interested in learning to act, so I decided to enter the competition and try my best.

Bright: I wanted to be an actor. I felt that if I was serious about it, I needed to be with a company. I like GMM Grammy because they have a lot of programmes for young people.

Bright, what do enjoy about acting?

Bright: I like the challenge. And while I’m playing a character, I feel like I’m taking a break from being myself. That’s kind of relaxing.

Are you fans of films and TV dramas?

Marc: I like Hollywood films, but I’m not into superhero movies. The plots don’t convince me. I prefer something realistic.

Bright: I enjoy watching TV series with interesting plots that make you want to keep watching. Now, I’m addicted to Breaking Bad.

I Love You is a romantic comedy. Do you generally like rom-coms?

Marc: It’s a popular genre, but I rarely watch the shows.

Bright: I quite like some of the Korean TV rom-coms.

How do you feel about Marc and Bright's promise not to date anybody?

Marc: I think it’s supposed to be a joke. I don’t think Marc is being serious.

Bright: I understand why Bright makes the promise - a girl broke his heart and he’s worried about the same thing happening to Marc. He’s not being totally stupid.

What was it like to work together?

Marc: We both gave it our all. In the scene where we had to fight each other, we did it in one take.

How would you compare your roles here to characters you’ve played in other series?

Marc: This wasn’t too difficult. The character Marc was written for me, so I was basically playing myself. But I prefer to play characters that are different from me. In the upcoming series, Sep Tid Kwam Jeb Puad [Addicted to Pain], my role is much more challenging. I play somebody who is quiet and repressed. I really like the script.

Bright: The character Bright is a bit different from me, but not completely. In I Sea U, I had to play two different characters. One was optimistic and the other was wicked and ambitious. That was a lot more challenging.
