New actor plays new hero

Yotsawat Tawapee (Euro) is a big fan of action. As a boy growing up in Udon Thani, he’d watch many action films and TV shows. Now, having moved to Bangkok to pursue an acting career, Euro’s dreams are coming true. In his first major TV role, he gets to play an unbeatable superhero.

Nak Su Satarn Fah (Unbeatable Fighter) is a brand new action-fantasy series, airing every Monday to Friday at 5 pm on Channel 7 HD. Euro stars as Ken, a hero who uses his magic powers to fight the criminal gangs that threaten the peace and harmony of his village.

S Weekly recently caught up with the 21-year-old star to talk about his acting experience and how it feels to put on a superhero suit.

Can you tell us about Unbeatable Fighter?

Euro:  It’s a new Thai-style superhero series, which tells the story of a young man called Ken. In a past life, he was a great warrior and the guardian of Machete Hill Village. As a baby, Ken is found by the side of a river and raised by an old monk in the village. When he reaches the age of 25, he starts to discover his hidden powers, as well as his main purpose in life - to fight crime!

What kind of superhero is Ken?

Euro:  He’s a proper superhero, similar to Kamen Rider or the Power Rangers. But unlike them, he’s a very Thai superhero. He’s got a cool suit and a magic machete as his trademark weapon.

How did it feel to put on the suit for the first time?

Euro:  It was surreal. I watched superhero shows all the time as a kid. Now that I’m one myself, it feels really cool. The suit is made from a rubber-like material, which is very tight and hot. I learned that I have to make sure I go to the toilet before putting it on. [Laughs.]

Is the show aimed at kids?

Euro:  Definitely. I think Channel 7 has been trying to create a new action hero for children to enjoy ever since Nak Su Pan Khao Neaw [The Sticky Rice Fighter] a few years ago. This show has everything that Thai kids want in a superhero story - cool action, super powers, magic and great moral lessons.

What was your first acting experience like?

Euro:  It was great. I’m still very new to acting. I just signed a contract with Channel 7 last November and I’ve already been given the chance to play the lead. I’ve had to train a lot to prepare for the action scenes, as well as do a lot of workshops to improve my acting. I have to say thank you to Channel 7 for seeing something in me and giving me this opportunity.

Who’s your favourite superhero?

Euro:  I love all kinds of action and superhero films, but my favourites are the Marvel heroes, especially Captain America. I’ve watched every film that he’s in.

What's next for Euro?

Euro:  Now, I’m filming a romantic drama called Lae Rak Bussaba [Bussaba’s Love Tricks] which will come out later this year. I’m so excited about these two shows. I really hope all the fans enjoy them too and continue to support me!
