7,133 new Covid cases, 12 deaths Tuesday

There were 12 more Covid-19 fatalities and 7,133 new cases registered during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry said on Tuesday morning.

On Monday, 3,306 Covid-19 patients left hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.

Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 2,284,609 Covid-19 cases including 61,174 cases this year, with 2,200,785 complete recoveries so far.

The vast majority of the Covid cases and deaths have occurred since April 1, around when the third wave of Covid-19 began.

The death toll stood at 21,850 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 152 this year.

The 12 new fatalities were between the ages of 21 and 84 years old.

The 7,133 new cases included 6,677 local infections and 411 imported cases. Of the local Covid-19 infections, 6,632 were confirmed at hospitals and 45 via mass testing.

Bangkok had the most new cases at 593, followed by 583 in Chon Buri, 530 in Samut Prakan, 468 in Phuket, 426 in Ubon Ratchathani, 336 in Nonthaburi, 280 in Khon Kaen, 209 in Chiang Mai, 173 in Pathum Thani and 162 in Buri Ram.

The 411 imported cases were arrivals from over 50 countries including 64 from Russia, 36 from Kazakhstan, 25 each from France and the United Kingdom, 24 each from Switzerland and the United States, 19 from Germany and 18 from Australia.
