Husband and wife died in ambush on village road in Muang district.

Abdulloh Saree, 64, and his wife Saripa Saree, 63, were attacked just after 7pm while riding their motorcycle through Ban Wakho, Moo 4 village in tambon Tha Wap.

Police said gunmen hidden on the roadside opened fire at the couple. Both were shot several times in the head and body. Their motorcycle was found lying nearby them on the road.

Police are investigating a motive for the attack including whether it was insurgency related. They said the couple were ordinary villagers who made a living as rubber tappers.
