During the crowning ceremony, His Majesty King Rama X uttered his First Royal Command: “I shall sustain, preserve and continue, and shall reign with righteousness for the benefit and happiness of the people forever.”
His Majesty’s vow echoes that of his late father, the beloved King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, known around the world as the Development Monarch for his dedication to development projects to improve the well-being of Thai people.
True to his words, HM King Rama X has followed in his late father’s footsteps ever since he was a young prince. Numerous photos show HM King Rama X accompanying his royal father during countless visits to remote, rural areas.
HM King Rama X has promoted appropriate rice farming. He personally participated in the farming of the famous Pathum Thani 1 rice variety and promoted the use of compost in rice farming.
HM the King realised how important healthcare is to Thai people. After the royal coronation ceremony, the King donated 2,400 million baht to 27 hospitals to procure necessary medical equipment.
When the King was Crown Prince, the Somdet Phra Yuparaj Hospital project was initiated in his honour. The project, run by government agencies with cooperation from the public through donations, built hospitals in remote, vulnerable areas to ensure that people there have access to proper medical care.
In the field of education, HM the King has bestowed his patronage on several schools and provided financial support to the Education Ministry.
For his new year greeting to Thai people, HM the King produced hand-drawn greeting cards. Proceeds from the sale of the cards benefitted charities and victims of natural disasters.
