She decided to apply for the CCO position after Citigroup opened for recruitment and selection in 2022 to prove her expertise and capability.

“Under the leadership role of Citi Thailand, I want to support both local and international clients in search of new business opportunities,” said Ms Narumon.

Regarding Citigroup’s recent business restructuring in Asia-Pacific recently, Citibank operates only wholesale banking businesses in the region, including Thailand.

With a 56-year business operation in the Thai market, Citi Thailand has supported Thai corporations’ growth and development, both locally and internationally.

Joining the bank during the Asian financial crisis in 1997, Ms Narumon has contributed to the bank’s business expansion, in particular its digital banking business.

After being appointed the new CCO, she received congratulatory emails from many women in several countries, telling her she had broken the glass ceiling for women based on her achievements and leadership style, becoming an inspiration for future generations of women.

Narumon stated that the key focus of Citi Thailand under her leadership is to support both Thai organizations and international corporate clients, ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to large businesses, in expanding and growing their businesses in the global market. This is achieved through a strategy that leverages the bank's strengths to benefit and create value for customers across three main dimensions: thinking globally, providing solutions, and delivering results in one city.

For "thinking globally," Citi Thailand utilizes the advantages of Citigroup's network spanning 95 countries, enabling it to respond to customers' needs in both investment and market expansion across various countries. Particularly, by enabling SMEs to grow in larger international markets beyond Thailand alone.

In addition to providing financial support to customers, the bank also acts as a representative of Thailand, showcasing the country's strengths to foreign counterparts and encouraging investment in Thailand. Similarly, the bank assists Thai corporate clients in exploring new markets.

The next step involves offering solutions that leverage Citi's strengths, such as efficient payment platforms capable of processing up to 5,000 transactions per second. Furthermore, Citi continuously supports and expands its customers' businesses, ensuring their long-term sustainability alongside the bank.

Narumon also emphasizes the importance of the team, focusing on building and developing the efficiency and potential of employees, who are considered crucial assets of the organization. This support enables bank employees to work in new ways, with fresh perspectives to adapt to the rapid changes in the business and technology world.
