All-new SUV comes with seven seats and 245hp 2.0-litre diesel-turbo engine.
Mercedes-Benz Thailand has released the new-generation GLE as a rival for premium seven-seat SUVs like the Land Rover Discovery and Volvo XC90.
Available initially in completely built-up form with 245hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel-turbo engine, the so-called GLE300d 4Matic is priced at 6.06 million baht in the sporty AMG Dynamic trim.
The GLE300d comes with brand’s latest MBUX interior technology to enhance user-friendliness for the driver. Some driver-assist features are being offered, as well, such as automatic cruise control, blind spot detection and lane-keep assist.
Armed with 258hp 3.0-litre V6 diesel-turbo, the Discovery costs from 5.5-6.99 million baht. The XC90, meanwhile, can be had for 4.19 million baht when equipped with 235hp 2.0-litre four-pot diesel-turbo.
The GLE300d’s more traditional rivals consist of the Audi Q7 and BMW X5. These two are being sold as only five-seaters in Thailand, but they come with more powerful six-cylinder diesel motors and cheaper prices.
While the 249hp Q7 45 TDI is priced at 4.799 million baht, the 265hp X5 30d asks for 5.659 million baht.
