Ratchaprasong Walk debuts

The Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association (RSTA) and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) yesterday launched the Ratchaprasong Walk project, seeking to attract more shoppers to the downtown shopping area.

The RSTA president Chai Srivikorn said the initiative is expected to draw 600,000 international and local visitors to the area per day.

A total of 18 operators, mainly hotels, shops, and department stores located in the Ratchaprasong intersection, want to promote the new walking route by combining modern shopping and lifestyle activities with the famous Erawan Shrine and other statues nearby. Called "Ratchaprasong Shine & Culture Walk 2017", the route will take about 30 minutes to complete.

"We aim to promote the area as year-round attraction. Tourists will stay in this area longer, not only praying but also purchasing food and beverages," Mr Chai said.

Tourists may get more information from Ratchaprasong Tourist Information Center at Amarin Tower and Gaysorn Village.

Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT's executive director for tourism activity, said the TAT would promote this event in international markets through offices overseas.

The TAT is promoting street food as well as luxury dining throughout Bangkok.
