MAI-listed TV Direct Plc (TVD), a leading home shopping operator, is joining hands with digital TV channel Spring News, aiming to use the platform to drive sales revenue to 3.9 billion baht, or 17% growth.

Songpol Shanmatkit, TV Direct's chief executive, said the company decided to enter the digital TV business to gain greater exposure with audiences.

TV Direct will be the co-producer of digital TV Spring News Channel 19 for a four-year contract.

The deal is part of the channel's revamp from only news reports to TV shopping programmes.

"This will enable TV Direct to have more channels selling products at reduced cost compared with buying airtime," Mr Songpol said. "However, TV Direct will still focus on placing ads on other digital TV channels."

He said the partnership is expected to drive the company's business operations and revenue in the future.

TV Direct wants its revenue to grow by at least 17%, as there are now more channels for product exposure and distribution.

Mr Songpol said TV Direct will add 15 showrooms this year to reach 100 outlets.

The company also plans to integrate its offline and online channels to boost competitiveness and tap consumers' changing behaviour.

Health and beauty products are gaining popularity among consumers, so the company wants to increase these categories in its pipeline covering supplementary goods and more.

Last year, TV Direct posted full-year revenue of 3.31 billion baht. It targets 3.99 billion baht in revenue this year.

The company provides home shopping service through TV and online channels.

TV Direct has 85 showrooms nationwide selling direct to customers who wish to see products before buying.
