Sammitr Group sets B10bn revenue target for 2024

Sammitr Group Holding has set an ambitious goal to reach 10 billion baht in 2024 revenue and position itself as the leading automotive company in Southeast Asia.

Founded in 1959, Sammitr is a first-tier auto parts maker led by the Posirisuk family. In 2019, the firm aims for revenue of 7.2 billion baht from 22 subsidiaries and affiliates.

Managing director Yongyout Posirisuk said Sammitr gathered its subsidiaries and affiliates under a holding company two years ago. Many well-known companies such as Sammitr Motors Manufacturing (SMM), Sammitr Autopart and Sammitr Green Power were brought under Sammitr Group Holding.

The holding company is divided into eight business units: truck and trailer; auto parts; pickup conversion; parts supplier; green energy; international business; others (such as online solutions); and digital platform.

"The 22 subsidiaries and affiliates are placed into these eight business units; for example, SMM is in charge of truck and trailer, auto parts, pickup conversion and parts supply," said Mr Yongyout, also SMM's president.

He said Sammitr was founded as a first-tier auto parts maker, so SMM with its subsidiaries remains the core competency of Sammitr's business and will account for 70% of 2019 revenue.

SMM has 11 factories in Thailand. Its big customers are Toyota and Isuzu.

The Sammitr brand established itself as a household name in dump trucks, trailers, semi-trailers, specially designed trucks, steel canopies and accessories for pickup trucks.

Shafts, hydraulic cylinders and other mechanical components are produced in-house for SMM's dump trucks, trailers and semi-trailers, as well as for other manufacturers.

Mr Yongyout said SMM has monthly capacity of 900 units for dump trucks and 100 units for trailers.

"For the parts supplier, SMM has a utilisation rate of 80% and generates monthly revenue of 100 million baht," he said.

Furthermore, Sammitr has two China plants supplying parts mainly for Volkswagen and a plant in Indonesia for truck assembly.

Sammitr plans to build and operate a truck assembly plant in the Philippines, to begin operating in 2020.

"Sammitr is very keen on new opportunities in Southeast Asia in the truck and trailer business, particularly in neighbouring countries whose economies are growing fast," Mr Yongyout said.
