Screening committee to begin search for PTT's next boss

PTT Plc, the national oil and gas conglomerate, is setting up a screening committee to proceed with selection of a new president and chief executive to replace Chansin Treenuchagron, who will retire from both posts in May 2020.

PTT's board of directors on Thursday resolved to appoint five people to the screening committee and four people to a compensation subcommittee.

The subcommittee will include three PTT directors and one representative from the State Enterprise Policy Office.

PTT will open the application period for candidates in the fourth quarter.

In a statement released Thursday, PTT said the latest resolution was in line with the Standard Qualifications of State Enterprise Directors and Officials Act.

"The new high-ranking position is expected to carry out PTT's vision and mission to be a transparent organisation, supporting the country's economy and growing with sustainability," the company said.

Three executives are expected to be candidates for the top job: Wirat Uanarumit, president and chief executive of Thai Oil Plc; Noppadol Pinsupa, president of IRPC Plc; and Auttapol Rerkpiboon, PTT's chief operating officer.

Mr Wirat and Mr Auttapol were candidates in March 2018, when PTT's board approved the promotion of Mr Chansin.

Now 59, Mr Chansin has served as president and chief executive since Aug 31, 2018. His term will conclude after 20 months.

Mr Chansin previously served as PTT's chief technology and engineering officer.

In other news, PTT's board acknowledged the deregistration of two subsidiaries in Indonesia, PT Makassar Prima Coal and PT Cakrawala Bara Borneo.
