Thailand Institute of Justice is collaborating with Harvard Law School to host an executive program focusing on today’s challenges relating to rule of law and development

As the world is currently facing transformative changes in various dimensions — be it politics, socio-economic systems, or cultural fabrics — amidst the pandemic, the rule of law has become as pertinent as ever in the realization of the global development agenda. The importance of the rule of law is inherent in Goal 16 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), which essentially aims to engender peace and justice in institutions at all levels, and raise awareness of how the legal system affects our society and the lives within it.

In collaboration with the Institute for Global Law and Policy (IGLP) at Harvard Law School, the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) is now accepting applications for RoLD 2020: The Resilient Leader. This flagship executive program on the rule of law and development highlights the legal framework of policymaking and how its processes are intertwined with sustained and equitable development outcomes. This program acts as a platform that brings together world-class scholars and accomplished policy practitioners to exchange ideas on contemporary debates on international law, economic policies, and above all, social justice and governance. Its peer-to-peer learning experience is exclusively designed to stimulate engaging and fruitful discussions among young, successful leaders and professionals of the 21st Century.

The RoLD 2020 will not only equip participants with a nuanced understanding and concrete knowledge of how to unlock their potential in shaping positive impacts and strengthen critical leadership skills, but it will also provide them with an unparalleled opportunity to expand their networks across industries and sectors. Ultimately, global discourses on the appreciation of the rule of law in creating a culture of lawfulness will translate into policy conversations in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Participants will immerse themselves in the following core curriculum on:

• The inextricable linkages between the rule of law and inner workings of policymaking in special    lectures;

• The contemporary regulatory responses, social justice, poverty and inequality, criminal justice reform, global governance and multilateralism, as well as labor, education and the future of work in a series of global webinars;

• The current regional challenges, including access to justice, gender-based violence, social reintegration, and anti-corruption in “The Problem Labs: Executive Future Thinking foJustice Series”; and

• The “TIJ-IGLP Workshop for Emerging Leaders on the Rule of Law and Policy” to enhance their techniques in policymaking with close mentorship from leading experts and renowned IGLP faculty members.

All sessions will take place between January to June 2021.
