POSCO-Thainox PCL corporate citizenship initiatives continue to expand

Donation of new public benches at Vachirabenjatas Park marks latest development

In its most recent implementation of its wide-reaching corporate citizenship program, POSCO-Thainox Public Company Limited on 2nd December 2020 ceremoniously installed 50 new stainless-steel benches donated by the company for public use at Vachirabenjatas Park.

Police General Asawin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, representing Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, presided over delivery of the benches.

POSCO-Thainox, the largest stainless steel flat products manufacturer in Thailand, was established in 1990, as the first stainless steel cold-rolling mill in Southeast Asia. Since then, the Company has been contributing to the Thai economy by supplying world-class quality stainless steel to various key industries, including automotive, home appliances, hard disc drives, kitchenware and construction, both domestically and internationally. In year 2011, the Company became a member of POSCO group, one of the world's leading integrated steel mills with its headquarters located in the Republic of Korea. Following the acquisition, the Company continues to find ways to contribute more to Thai society based on POSCO group's "Corporate Citizenship " philosophy which is the strong belief that a corporation is not only an economic entity but also a corporate citizen with a duty to build a better future and grow together with civil citizens.

To apply the "Corporate Citizenship" vision to its operating activities, POSCO-Thainox initiated a series of projects in collaboration with local fabricators and target groups of receivers to apply stainless steel furniture to refurbish old facilities and thereby give the public the chance to enjoy more pleasant environments. Main focus areas this year are park bench refreshments and school canteen makeovers.

Furthermore, the Company held "POSCO-Thainox Design Award 2020 " to promote creativity of young designers by giving them a chance to design stainless steel furniture for public benefit such as park benches and accessibility chairs for the handicapped. Some of the best designs will be manufactured by the Company and installed in places like MRT stations and public parks.

Compared with other materials such as wood and painted steel, with its easy maintenance and long lifespan due to its superior anti-corrosion capability, stainless steel has 100% recyclability and is considered eco-friendly.
