This year, centralwOrld square, Thailand’s ‘world-class countdown landmark’ for over 20 years, also referred to as the ‘Times Square of Asia’, will turn a new page in world history. This will be the new-normal countdown where people from all over the world unite but keep their distance while sharing the best moments together. Once the Covid-19 level escalated, Central Pattana immediately took responsibility to announce that the event will be LIVE broadcast on Channel ONE 31 and LINE TV for the sake of the whole country to get through this situation as safely and as soon as possible. Although this may affect our business, responsibility to society and nation is something that Central Pattana has always adhered to and always will.

Fireworks are a symbol of celebration around the world. Their kaleidoscopic colours and forms are a combination of science and art which can be interpreted and composed into a story to create unforgettable impressions. Now you can encounter the profound meaning of centralwOrld’s special firework display ‘A Symbol of Hope’ with digital synchronization which positively reflects our attitude towards the environment. Instead of using lots and lots of fireworks, we make the best use of the largest digital screen in front of centralwOrld to create a way more spectacular display.

The meanings and symbols behind four fireworks acts have been inspired by the current global issue of Covid-19 which has created radical changes in the way people around the world live. We believe that mankind is full of hope and unity and ready to join forces to overcome the crisis. Such is the inspiration of the fireworks under the theme 'A Symbol of Hope' – an emblem from Thailand to reflect our positive energy towards the world stage.

Act 1: Spirit of Togetherness: ‘Unity’ of people all over the world is the most valuable vaccine. Although we all live in different parts of this planet, still we play an important part in working together in harmony. The first set of fireworks is comparable to the spirit of people all over the world, soaring into the sky, aiming for the same goal in unison and working together through the Covid-19 crisis. Unity is indeed the most valuable vaccine at this time.

Act 2: Believe in Positivity: be ‘encouraged’ to fight together. Even in the darkest sky, there is a shining light. This act represents the positivity in working together to light up the dark. The second set of fireworks is also been inspired by Pantone colour for 2021, “Ultimate Gray”, which is comparable to the night sky. It is the colour hidden within stillness and calm like a stone, and ‘illumination’, the colour of positivity, patience, warmth and the hopes of mankind.

Act 3: Reunite Thailand & Our World: for the sake of us, our country and our world. The third act of fireworks represents Thailand through the eyes of other countries. Thailand is one of the countries that has best been able to effectively cope with the pandemic and has become globally recognised for this. The colours of this third act are from the Thai flag (red, white and blue) in addition to the colours of ‘Siamese Fighting Fish’, Thailand’s aquatic creatures well known to foreigners that demonstrate elegance, power and delicacy as well as being strong fighters unique in their ways. This reflects the Thai character as a patriotic ‘fighter’. ‘Siamese Fighting Fish’ have also inspired the design of the Thai national costume for a world-class beauty pageant next year.

Act 4 (Highlight): There is Always Hope: hope is the life force. This act represents a field of different colour flowers symbolising the diversity of gender, ethnicity and belief of people around the world. Red, the colour of the International Red Cross, is used to express encouragement to healthcare professionals and other related parties that are important outposts in the fight against Covid-19. It also represents a spark for the global community to think more positively, be patient and not be discouraged, to be hopeful and believe that we will be able to overcome the situation eventually.

Another special feature of this fireworks display is to apply ‘Audio & Visual Graphic Art’ in addition to the fireworks, crafted for each set of fireworks with a digital synchronization technique through ‘panOramix’, the world’s largest digital screen. This will be the only firework display in Thailand to combine digital media. Discover songs of encouragement from Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra and a surprising ‘Song of Hope’ performance that will help create positive energy and pass forward hope to the audience at home.
