Building a Green Future, Inspiring Future Leaders

Bangkok Prep looks forward to celebrating its 20th anniversary by relocating the Primary school to a brand new, state-of-the-art, 21st-century learning space in central Sukhumvit’s green neighbourhood

With its 20th anniversary around the corner, Bangkok Prep, an established centre of learning attracting both expatriate and Thai students, stands at the threshold of writing a new chapter in its history: a state-of-the-art campus that houses both its Primary and Secondary schools. With this, Bangkok International Preparatory & Secondary School is fulfilling its promise of providing every student with the best facilities in a safe and nurturing green space.

This bold promise takes the school and its student community into the future with the Primary School moving lock, stock and barrel in August 2023 from its present location on Sukhumvit 53 to T77, a 60-rai eco-friendly, residential community. A mere 3km away at the top of Sukhumvit 77. Away from the congestion of the Thonglor area, this is a dream location for any school. A sprawling campus in a peaceful environment that is hard to match in a city like Bangkok and that too within the CBD.

The move will reunite the Primary with its older sibling, the well-established Secondary School. Together, from August 2023, Bangkok Prep will proudly be 'One school, One Campus' once again.

Adjacent to the Secondary Campus, the brand-new Primary Campus is spread over 13,500 sqm. A 21st-century purpose-built concept learning space, it is designed for children aged between 3 and 11 years old.

Moving was a tough decision, but the school's belief – 'Our students are at the heart of everything we do’ – trumped all other considerations. This decision will benefit siblings currently separated by distance, making life easier for the children themselves as well as parents and caregivers who will no longer have to shuttle between campuses for drop-offs/pick-ups, sports training and after-school clubs. The move also ensures a smoother operation making teaching and learning a seamless transition experience with easy access to all facilities.

The new Primary school will have its own facilities, including a 25-metre swimming pool, a state-of-the-art sports complex, a music recital hall, a modern library, contemporary and flexible learning spaces and a "co-working space concept" for every Year Group. There is also a purpose-designed 1,300sqm Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) indoor learning space with ample space for students to explore and choose what interests them, a large outdoor playground, a sports field and an improved traffic flow for drop-offs and pick-ups. In addition, the building design is focused on sustainability and equipped with a 'FreshAir System', which provides clean air and ventilation as a preventative measure to alleviate both PM2.5 and Covid-19 issues.

Primary students are excited as they have helped envision the design. In addition, they provided inputs through their Student Council, many of which have been incorporated, including the indoor slide that connects the floors assigned to different Year Groups and an outdoor reading nook under the shaded trees.

Completely invested in sustainability and empowering future leaders, Bangkok Prep is the first school in Thailand to be accredited with the highest Eco-Schools Award – the Green Flag. Eco-Schools is a global organisation aimed at promoting sustainability and environmental education. Underlining its commitment to environmental education and sustainability, Bangkok Prep has not only embedded the UN Global Goals into its curriculum but is showing the way with sustainable practices like solar panels, electrical charging stations for all-electric vehicles, and extensive community engagement, among many other initiatives.

This move embodies the school's sustainability ethos and its desire to fuel the future of all Bangkok Prep students with well-being and sustainability practices that will empower and inform future leaders.

In the words of Malcolm X, “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today." At Bangkok Prep, the future is here.

A mere 3km away from Thonglor, at the top of Sukhumvit 77 (and via Pridi 2), the school is situated amid a 60-rai eco-friendly, residential community.
