Singha Estate Plc has launched S Angthong, an eco-friendly industrial estate with a focus on food and related businesses, in line with the government plan to develop a World Food Valley industrial estate.

The World Food Valley scheme, promoted by the Industry Ministry, aims to make Thailand the "Kitchen of the World" and one of the world's top food producers by encouraging small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and local farmers to make value-added food and farm products.

The company is determined to help the government achieve this goal, which will also enhance food security in Thailand, said Thitima Rungkwansiriroj, chief executive of Singha Estate.

"We also expect S Angthong to form part of a circular economy, bringing benefits to businesses, communities and the environment," she said.

A circular economy involves up-cycling processes to add value to products.

The S Angthong estate sits on a 1,776-rai area, with 993 rai allocated for sales to factories, 34 rai to become a commercial zone, 148 rai dedicated for public utilities, and 384 rai to be a reservoir with storage capacity of 6.12 million cubic metres of water.

Another 393 rai is expected to be developed into a light industrial business zone, said Mrs Thitima.

Food manufacturers can buy food-grade steam from nearby power plants owned by the company, she said.

Komjohn Leepraphantkul, managing director of S.IF. Co which oversees the S Angthong project, said he expects the land to be 100% sold to investors by 2027, generating total revenue of more than 4.7 billion baht and recurring income over the long run.

Singha Estate set a target to sell 15% of the land, or 149-150 rai, this year, bringing in revenue worth more than 500 million baht.

Mrs Thitima said S Angthong will also generate revenue for communities by creating more than 5,000 jobs within the estate, as well as promote local retail businesses at its commercial zone.
