Fujitsu unit outlines digital journey

Firm shifts away from IT focus

Fujitsu Thailand, the local operating unit of the Japanese ICT firm, has highlighted leadership, culture, data-driven action and digital transformation as key for its strategic push to drive growth through internal transformation.

The four aspects are covered in its transformation journey dubbed "Fujitra".

"We continue to see ongoing digital transformation projects following the pandemic to increase competitiveness for businesses," said Kanokkamon Laohaburanakit, managing director of Fujitsu Thailand.

Appointed to the leadership position in April last year, Ms Kanokkamon is the first female and Thai leader of the Fujitsu team in Thailand. Fujitsu has been operating in the country for 33 years.

"We are shifting from an IT company to a digital transformation firm with integrated digital tech in all business areas," she said.

The company wants to use Fujitra as a way to transform internally through all departments, cultural organisations, solutions, services and business models. A survey suggested the concept has led to improved customer and employee satisfaction.

Ms Kanokkamon says leaders need to maintain a startup mindset.

According to Ms Kanokkamon, digital transformation requires leadership, culture and data-driven approaches.

"Every employee is important in making their organisations more agile and ensuring sustainable transformation," she said.

Leadership is required to drive organisations' cultural changes, making them more purpose-driven and open to collaboration, said Ms Kanokkamon.

Leaders need to emphasise the importance of data-driven decision-making and customer experience, as well as maintain a startup mindset, meaning they should dare to try, she said.

"The hardest part of transformation is changing people's mindsets," said Ms Kanokkamon.

"We can bring our internal experience to help businesses transform."

She said the company is ready to help customers pursue transformation in seven major focus areas: sustainable manufacturing; customer experience; healthy living; trusted society; digital shifts; business applications; and hybrid IT.

Globally Fujitsu pursued the acquisition of several companies to increase its capacity in digital transformation services, particularly those engaged in artificial intelligence, security and technologies that can enhance customer and employee experiences.

"We are increasing our staff locally while leveraging skills among global employees through synergy," said Ms Kanokkamon.
