With the increasing legalisation of medical cannabis in many countries, a unique opportunity has arisen for Thailand to use this industry as an engine for positive change. An innovative example is Bloom Thailand using cloning technology to bring education and resources to disadvantaged communities in Bangkok.

Give Knowledge, not Perishables

Bangkok Community Help Foundation and Bloom sponsored a workshop in the Khlong Toei community to teach cloning techniques for growing vegetables. The goal of the workshop was to empower the community to cultivate its own food using sustainable methods, leading to greater self-sufficiency. By adopting cloning technology, the community can cultivate more plants in less space and in a shorter amount of time which not only provides access to fresh produce but also creates a sense of community ownership over their food sources. The workshop is a significant step toward a healthier and more sustainable future for the community, with Lot 456  as an initial pilot project.

This technology will enable the community to grow vegetables throughout the year, irrespective of weather conditions and without the need for additional equipment, making for more efficient use of space and resources. This means that communities can not only feed themselves but mass produce as a source of income.

“This is definitely an initiative we’ve never had before and we’re really excited to see how many families we help,” comments Friso Poldervaart, Bangkok Community Help Foundation Co-Founder.

“Although the Thai cannabis market is still in its early stages, it has great potential for growth. When companies engage in social responsibility, it is a sign of a maturing industry.”

“As the leading trusted platform in Thailand, we are deeply committed to helping people and believe it is our responsibility to inspire the cannabis industry to make a meaningful difference. By giving back in tangible ways, we can bring opportunities to those in need,” observes Salman Rob, Head of Marketing Bloom Thailand.

“Although it’s been a bumpy road for Thailand’s cannabis regulations, the future of the industry is still bright with innovations and emerging technologies. This is a major step forward for Thailand, and projects such as Bloom ‘Khlong Toei Clones’ it will have a positive impact on how companies approach CSR.”
