21 Thai brands win Superbrands status

Twenty-one Thai brands were honoured with Superbrands status in Bangkok from the independent authority and arbiter of branding.

Executives of the 21 Thai brands celebrate after receiving the Superbrands award on Wednesday.

CentralWorld, Thailand's leading shopping centre, has also won the coveted Brand of the Year award at the fifth annual Superbrands tribute event.

The event, dubbed globally as the "Oscars of Branding", was attended by prominent business, marketing and branding executives and saw the unveiling of the 2013 Superbrands book featuring many of the award winners.

Superbrands managing director Mike English said CentralWorld has positioned its brand perfectly and worked hard to ensure that consumers get the best possible service.

The brand has won the trust of consumers and is well placed to become the number one in the marketplace.

The Superbrands Council, which comprises some of the leading names in Thai business circles, compiles a shortlist that is then scored online by more than 2,500 marketing professionals.

Brands that scored more than 80% were declared Superbrands.

Most of the selected brands appear in the Superbrands Thailand book, which traces the history and achievements of each one.

The 2013 Superbrands are 12Plus, Advanced Info Service, CentralWorld, Cotto, Double A, Giffarine, Hi-Kool, King Power, Krungsri Auto, Lamina, LG, Major Cineplex, Mali, Mitr Phol Sugar, Muang Thai Life Assurance, Orchid, S.B. Furniture, Siam Paragon, Tra Chang, Watsons and Wuttisak Clinic.

"It is heartening to see so many of Thailand's home-grown brands make it into the Superbrands Thailand book alongside large corporate entities and world-famous fast-moving consumers goods brands," Mr English said.

The Superbrands organisation is acclaimed worldwide as being an independent authority and is committed to paying honour to exceptional brands and promoting the discipline of branding.

Superbrands was set up in London in 1994 and has expanded its operations to 86 countries including Thailand. More than 14,000 brands have been featured worldwide.
