Tiwa York, chief executive of Kaidee, says motorcycles are the second-most visited content after cars on the site.

Kaidee, Thailand's biggest online marketplace, has opened a classified motorcycle section to broaden its revenue.

The company aims to gain a profit by 2019 and break even this year.

"We estimate there are 20 million motorcycles in Thailand but very few websites targeting this underserved market," said Tiwa York, head of Kaidee.

The company launched its MocyKaidee section to help motorcycle buyers and sellers, underlining its position as the No.1 online vehicle marketplace.

"Motorcycles are the second-most visited content after cars, and MocyKaidee is the largest online trading community for motorcycle enthusiasts, with over 25,000 motorcycle advertisements and over 36,000 motorcycle parts and riding accessories for sale every day. We receive more than 120,000 visits each day."

The platform attracts over 3.4 million visits per month. On average, 9,000 motorcycles are sold per month, valued at 350 million baht.

The top five best-selling brands are Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Vespa and Suzuki. Some 85% of demand is for 125cc vehicles, while 74% of buyers are from the provinces and 26% are in Bangkok and the suburbs.

Mr Tiwa said in 2018 the website will focus more on property, which is its third-most visited content.

Kaidee.com had over 29 million visitors in the first six months this year with 7.5 million active monthly users.

The company expects to grow by 2.5 times this year from 2016 and break even for the first time after continued investment the past six years, said Mr Tiwa. Some 70% of Kaidee.com's revenue comes from listing fees and 30% from advertising.
