The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) is utilising marketing tactics at four of its industrial estates to attract more Thai and foreign investors.

New packages granting discounts on industrial land sales and exemptions pertaining to land rental and fees for the use of facilities on the estates for specific periods have been launched in the effort to attract more investment.

"We expect the packages to help investors make their decisions more easily to invest in Thailand," said Veeris Ammarapala, governor of the IEAT.

The packages have been in place since Oct 1, 2022 and expire on Sept 30 this year.

The four industrial estates covered are the Southern Region Industrial Estate and the Songkhla Industrial Estate, which are both located in the southern province of Songkhla, as well as the Sa Kaeo Industrial Estate in the East and the Phichit Industrial Estate in the North.

New investors who want to purchase industrial land within the Southern Region Industrial Estate will receive discounts of between 15% and 20%, said Mr Veeris.

Fees for the use of facilities have been waived for one year.

"This package is good for investors who want to own land," said Mr Veeris.

Existing manufacturers who lease land in the Southern Region Industrial Estate will also be granted exemptions on the land rental for a period of two years and facility fees for one year, according to the IEAT.

At Songkhla Industrial Estate, new investors will receive exemptions on land rent for a period of three years. They will also receive a 25% discount on rent in the fourth year.

Authorities also agreed to grant them an exemption pertaining to the use of facilities for one year.

At the Sa Kaeo Industrial Estate, new investors who want to lease land will be granted a rent exemption for one year.

To encourage investors to rent factories in this industrial complex, the IEAT is granting them a rent exemption for a period of two years.

Similar marketing packages are also being applied at the Phichit Industrial Estate.

The IEAT earlier announced it aims to sell and lease out 2,500 rai of industrial land in fiscal 2023, from October 2022 to September 2023, as it takes advantage of the relocation of production facilities to Thailand.

In fiscal 2022, which ended in September 2022, the authority's land sales and leases stood at 2,016 rai, a year-on-year increase of 65%.
