Artificial intelligence (AI) will bring new experiences to PC users with greater personalisation and increased productivity as it will act like a personal assistant, which will stimulate new consumer demand in the PC market next year, says leading global technology firm HP Inc.

The world is changing fast and is increasingly dependent upon technology, particularly in Asia, Vinay Awasthi, managing director of HP Greater Asia, said on Wednesday during an event called "HP Future Ready 2023" in Tokyo, Japan.

The two-day event, which ended yesterday, is where HP unveiled its next phase of innovation and growth.

Asia is going to see 50% growth in production over the next 10 years. That is trillions of dollars of GDP, he added.

The region also represents diverse developed and emerging economies and various tech use cases as well as a diversity of generations.

The region is also going to see a huge investment in education, along with government spending on digital transformation policies, Mr Awasthi said.

In the last three years, Asean added 100 million new internet subscribers and represents new businesses for startups.

According to IT research house IDC, more than 10% of Asian consumers are going to use device as a service for their personal computing and smartphone needs by 2025.

All these are mega trends that will raise opportunities for HP from the evolving hybrid experience, sharp rise in security risk, customer demand of sustainable brands, buidling a resilient supply chain and AI as a catalyst for reinvention, Mr Awasthi said.

He added that customers are at the centre of HP's innovation and the company is committed to delivering innovation across all segments from homes, small and medium-sized enterprises to large enterprises, at the right price and time.

HP will continue to invest strategically in high growth areas, including gaming, peripherals, consumer subscriptions, workforce services, security and print solutions.

Mr Cho talks about how AI impacts the personal computer industry.

Alex Cho, president for HP's personal systems business, said PCs will go through a lot of changes, delivering new AI experiences while giving users user the best cost performance.

"We're heavily investing to be able to deliver really great new AI experiences to our customers," Mr Cho added.

For example, a device will have more intelligence to optimise itself to give significantly more battery life, or applications that can arrange meetings in real-time.

The innovation through AI in PC devices, a new way of collaboration in hybrid work, and new gaming titles in 12-18 months will drive refreshment of the PC market next year.

Since 2019, during the pandemic, HP shipped 126 million PCs worldwide to help people work from home, eight million gaming PCs and another 33 million PCs for students to keep learning.

In Asia, 90% of workers prefer to work remotely, there are 1.5 billion gamers in Asia-Pacific, and 20% of e-sport growth is expected in Asia by 2028.

Around 71% of Gen Alpha use gaming apps and socialise -- this brings opportunities for HP in high growth areas like hybrid and gaming.

Education technology (EdTech) firms in Asia are driving EdTech market growth and will contribute 40% of the US$410 billion of the global total market by 2026.

Dave Shull, president for workforces Solutions at HP, said HP will make lifelong customers through its workforces solutions which offers integration of PC and printing, poly headsets and video cameras that help businesses to increase employee productivity and hybrid future work with lower cost of ownership.

Workforce solutions offer a $150 billion opportunity as customers need more flexible solutions for work, with new business models and there are more than 90 million meeting rooms worldwide, of which fewer than 10% have video capability.

AI helps streamline business operations and enables quicker time to analyse and gain insights that help to increase employee productivity. It also helps manage IT security by having sensitive data computed at the edge device with low latency.
