RX Tradex is set to host the annual "METALEX" event, the premier gathering for machine tools and metalworking technologies in ASEAN. This year's edition will surpass its predecessor, taking place at BITEC and introducing three special zones showcasing cutting-edge technology and machinery from seven international pavilions. The event is projected to generate at least 7 billion THB in trade value.
Mrs. Varaporn Dhamcharee, Managing Director of RX Tradex (formerly Reed Tradex), ASEAN's leading exhibition organiser, shares import statistics indicating a 2.89% increase in machinery and components' import value from January to September compared to 2022. Notably, machinery used in metalworking saw a 4.59% rise, reaching a value of 23,478.79 million THB. Japan, China, Taiwan (R.O.C.), Germany, and South Korea were the top five countries from which Thailand imported these machinery and components. These figures underscore the growing need to enhance efficiency in the metalworking industry, driven by Thailand's role as a global manufacturing hub and significant foreign investments.
The data reflects rising demand for metals across various industries, accompanied by emerging challenges necessitating responsive actions. Business owners must address complex consumer demands and adhere to trade regulations, potentially requiring process adjustments, such as those related to carbon emissions reduction as seen in the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) of the European Union. These challenges demand the application of new technologies and knowledge.

The METALEX event is renowned in the ASEAN metalworking industry as a comprehensive platform for launching new machine tools and metalworking innovations, serving as a meeting point for industry professionals. This year's event expands by 10%, featuring exhibitions in both halls and the foyer area, showcasing 2,500 brands in machine tools and metalworking technologies from 50 countries. Over 95,000 participants from more than 40 countries are expected, with the trade value of business deals predicted to surpass 7 billion Baht.

This year's METALEX event is set to introduce several groundbreaking innovations for the first time, including:
A cutting-edge metal folding machine with advanced Servo technology from Japan's AMADA, known for its precision and efficiency. This machine features voice-activated controls and user-friendly capabilities.
The latest laser machine from Swiss brand GF AgieCharmilles, imported by Sahamit Machinery, offering solutions for engraving and surface marking with lasers to enhance component production quality.
Brother's machining centre or metal cutting machine from Japan, imported by Yamazen (Thailand), capable of delivering high production output and environmental efficiency, ideal for cutting and trimming large or multi-sided workpieces.
A high-speed and precision cobot from Nachi Technology Thailand, providing workpiece handling capabilities comparable to industrial robots.
Small-sized, high-speed, highly accurate, and efficient machining centres from Fanuc Thai, featuring a tool magazine capable of holding up to 28 tools.
Main Highlights of METALEX 2023
In addition to showcasing new innovations from seven international pavilions (China, Italy, Japan, Germany, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan), this year's METALEX event will feature new special features, including Smart Materials, Additive Manufacturing (commonly known as 3D Printing), and Artificial Intelligence (AI), which plays an increasingly significant role in manufacturing.

The METALEX AI Forum, scheduled for the entire day of November 23, organised in collaboration with the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) and the Thai IoT Association. It will explore successful AI utilisation, from project management to industrial policy in practice.
On November 24, three seminars will take place, including the 11th edition of the Metallurgy Forum, focusing on carbon-related trade measures; the EV Tech Forum, discussing emerging business opportunities in the EV ecosystem; and the Additive Manufacturing Forum, exploring opportunities and constraints in modernised industry production.

METALEX 2023 will be held at Halls 98-104, BITEC (Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre), from November 22nd to 25th, 2023, between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
