B.Grimm Power (Angthong) 3 Co, a subsidiary of B.Grimm Power Plc, has reached its commercial operation date (COD) for the Angthong 3 combined-cycle power plant project.
With a production capacity of 140 megawatts, the plant commenced the sale of electricity to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) starting on Dec 1.
Coupled with the inauguration in October of the COD for the Angthong 2 (BGPAT2) combined-cycle power plant, which has capacity of 140MW, the combined output of both projects is 280MW.
Harald Link, president of B.Grimm Power, said the Angthong 3 plant is situated in S Industrial Estate Angthong in Chaiyo district.
The facility uses natural gas as its primary fuel source, incorporating state-of-the-art technology, said Mr Link.
"A power purchase agreement [PPA] was signed with Egat for 90MW spanning 25 years. The agreement stipulates the cost of natural gas will be passed through as electricity revenue to Egat," he said.
"An additional long-term power and steam purchase contract covering the remaining capacity caters to customers within the S Industrial Estate Angthong.
"The integration of the Angthong 3 plant with BGPAT2 is poised to instil confidence among industrial users, while enhancing the competitiveness of the industrial estate."
B.Grimm Power is involved in construction and development projects domestically and overseas, including in South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Italy, Greece, Australia, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
These initiatives are strategically designed to address the integrated energy requirements of industrial users, said Mr Link.
Such efforts are instrumental in propelling the economy and enhancing the business competitiveness of the country's key industries, he said.
This year, B.Grimm Power added capacity through seven projects that are now operational, reaching a combined capacity of 632MW.
The company has total installed capacity of 3,970MW from power plants in operation, spanning a total of 62 projects.
When factoring in projects under construction, in development or with PPAs, overall production capacity is expected to reach 4,268MW.
B.Grimm Power is committed to expanding its investment and conducting business in a manner that meets customer needs and strengthens the competitiveness of the Thai industrial sector, said Mr Link.
The company set an ambitious goal to develop power plant projects with a cumulative production capacity of 10,000MW.
B.Grimm Power aims to increase the proportion of renewable energy in its portfolio to surpass 50% of its total capacity by 2030, he said.
In the long term, the company plans to achieve net-zero carbon emissions, eventually evolving to production of zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050.
