Gulf Energy Development is partnering with Advanced Info Service (AIS) to install solar panels and bring digital technology to remote communities, aiming to elevate the quality of life for Thais.

The "Gulf x AIS Solar Synergy: A Spark of Green Energy Network" project aims to reduce inequality, create educational opportunities, and enhance healthcare services, according to the two firms.

Communication systems will be set up using mobile phone base stations to connect remote areas, noted the pair.

The first pilot project was launched in Ban Dokmai Sod, Mae Usu in Tha Song Yang district of Tak province, and there are plans to expand it into other regions.

The village is in a mountainous area that lacks electricity and has a population of about 700 people within 160 households. Most residents are farmers, primarily cultivating corn.

Tanon Tantisunthorn, Gulf's chief infrastructure and logistics business officer, and Saichon Submakudom, head of public relations and the business relations unit of AIS, said the goal of the partnership is to leverage the business capabilities of both companies to promote equality and inclusivity.

This collaboration is driven by the synergy of knowledge and expertise from Gulf, specialising in modern renewable energy development, and AIS, an expert in communication and digital technology, noted the duo.

The project aims to provide energy and communication infrastructure to people living in areas where basic public utilities are difficult to access.

Gulf plans to deliver solar power systems to various communities based on their specific needs and challenges.

These needs can include addressing healthcare issues as well as providing electricity for educational purposes, lighting, water filtration systems, and water pumping systems for agricultural and domestic use.

AIS plans to implement a telecom system powered by solar energy to enable communities to use communication services.

This initiative can facilitate learning via various online sources of information, said both representatives.

In addition, the telecom system can be utilised to promote tourism and community products via online networks, helping to create job opportunities for locals, said the pair.
