GH Bank preps low-interest loans for greener homes

Government Housing Bank (GH Bank) is offering low-interest loans totalling 10 billion baht to purchase or renovate homes so that they become more environmentally friendly and reduce pollution for residents.

According to GH Bank president Kamonpop Veerapala, the total value of the loans is part of the bank's policy, which has been implemented for a second year, aimed at supporting energy-efficient and environmentally friendly housing for the public.

Under the "Green Loan" scheme, the bank has designed loan products in various formats such as a "Happy Home Loan" for buying, building or renovating energy-efficient homes, with a low-interest rate of 2.45% for the first year for welfare customers or those whose monthly payments are deducted from payroll accounts.

For general retail customers, the interest rate is charged at 2.6% for the first year.

The Dust-Free Home Loan is for purchasing dust protection systems with an interest rate of 2.45% for the first year, while Solar Roof loans for purchasing panels offer a fixed interest rate of 3.9% for three years.

These initiatives towards Green Loans are part of the bank's strategy of becoming a sustainable bank, aligning with the government's vision of "Ignite Thailand" to elevate the country to become a financial hub.

In 2024, GH Bank set a target to extend loans totalling 242 billion baht, an increase of 3% from the previous year.

As for non-performing loans, the bank aims to keep them below 4%, compared to 3.87% at the end of 2023.

More than half of this loan target, or 157 billion baht, would be allocated to help low-income individuals access housing loans more easily.
