The cabinet has appointed Watcharee Wimuktayon, director-general of the Internal Trade Department, the new permanent secretary for commerce, reports said on Tuesday.
Mrs Watcharee will succeed Yanyong Phuangrach, who will retire from the civil service on Sept 30, 2012.
