The unemployment rate in August dropped slightly to 0.6% of the total workforce, down from 0.7% in August 2011, according the National Statistics Office (NSO).
The number of registered unemployed stood at 224,000 at the end of August, down 46,000 year-on-year. The figure was only 2,000 lower than July 2012, when the umemployment rate was also around 0.6%.
The NSO said there were a total of 39.54 million registered employed people -- 16.46 million in the agricultural sector and 23.08 million in the non-farm sector. The country had a total workforce of 39.8 million in August.
