The House will meet in extraordinary session on May 29-30 to deliberate the fiscal 2014 Budget Bill. No other bills will be proposed for consideration, government whip chairman Amnuay Khlangpha said on Monday.
Mr Amnuay said the House of Representatives would spend a total of 25 hours on May 29-30 debating the budget bill.
The government and opposition whips would meet on May 22 to discuss the time to be allocated to government and opposition MPs.
According to parliamentary meeting regulations, a bill which has been passed in the first reading must undergo seven days of scrutiny by a special committee. However, a different timeframe could be agreed on by both sides, he said.
The government whips would propose the setting up of a committee with 63 members to scrutinise the bill, Mr Amnuay said.
The government chief whip said he believed the budget debate would go smoothly and it would not be necessary to assign MPs to rise to their feet during the debate to protect the prime minister.
Mr Amnuay also said neither the controversial reconciliation bills, the 2 trillion baht loan bill, nor any other legislation would be proposed for consideration during the extraordinary House meeting.
Prime Minister's Office Minister Varathep Rattanakorn said copies of the budget bill had been sent to all MPs.
The minister in charge of each ministry and the Budget Bureau would be responsible for explaining the bill.
The House of Representatives would debate on the bill on May 29-30. The Senate would meet on May 31 to set up a committee to consider the bill, Mr Varathep said.
After deliberation of the bill in the House, the government would propose that the extraordinary session be closed from June 1.
