Apco sees gains on exports

MAI-listed Asian Phytoceuticals (Apco) is expected to gain 270 million baht in profit within one year from the export market after signing contracts with two Singaporean sales agents.

Managing director Pichaet Wiriyachitra said the profit had been calculated from sales volume under the one-year contracts.

WAN Global Ventures Pte will distribute its healthcare products in Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, South Korea and Taiwan for sales of US$3 million, while Paradigm Health & Wellness Pte is obliged to achieve sales of $8.3 million.

Apco is also talking with Mdm Liu Fang, a Chinese company, and hopes to sign a contract this year.

The company also plans to open a healthcare centre in Bangkok.

Apco expects sales revenue this year of 450-500 million baht, with a profit margin of about 35%.

The company yesterday reported to the Stock Exchange of Thailand that it had changed its capital increase plan from an issuance of 28 million shares for private placement to a public offering instead.

It expects to get funds from the offering of 800-900 million baht, while its paid-up capital will increase from 271 million to 300 million baht.

After the capital increase, Apco will be ready to trade on the main SET board next year.

"We changed the plan as we want a variety of shareholders. The previous private placement would have been offered to doctors, but through the public offering we will be able to offer new shares to our customers, dealers and trading partners," said Mr Pichaet.

After the public offering, Apco will have cash in hand of 1.2-1.3 billion baht.

Mr Pichaet, who has a 56% shareholding, wants to keep his holding at more than 50%. "But once we have wider base of retail investors — let's say 10,000 to 20,000 people — I may sell 5-10% of my shares to strategic partners if that will increase market size and competitiveness," he said.

Apco had first-half revenue of 217 million baht, up 42.3% year-on-year, and a net profit of 67.1 million baht.

Shares of APCO closed on the MAI yesterday at 31.50 baht, unchanged, in trade worth 48.7 million baht.
