Bugatti pays homage to EB110 with new Centodieci

Exotic hypercar maker produces a Chiron spin-off with 1,600hp.

Welcome to the Centodieci, Bugatti’s latest hypercar spun off from the Chiron and the fourth after Chiron Sport, Divo and La Voiture Noire.

Making its debut at an exotic car show in Pebble Beach, US this weekend, the Centodieci pays homage to the EB110 (Centodieci stands for 110 in Italian) of the nineties.

Some distinctive cues include a horseshoe-style grille up front, the smallest when compared to the other Chiron-based derivatives. Others comprise of thin head lamps, five air vents behind the doors and a pair of exhaust pipes stacked on top of each other.

To signify its thunderous performance, there’s a big wing and air diffuser on the rear end. The wheels have a new design never seen in a Chiron.

Does it have more power?

Like other special edition Chirons, the Centodieci gets the usual 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 powerhouse, 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive hardware.

But the Centodieci is the first to receive a power increase of 100hp; all others had 1,500hp. Thanks to the use of some lightweight materials, the 1,600hp Centodieci weighs 20kg less than the Chiron.

Although the 2.4sec 0-100kph and 6.1sec 0-200kph figures are the same with the Chiron’s, the Centodieci’s 13.1sec 0-300kph record is half-a-second quicker thanks to that power hike.

The limited top speed has been lowered from 420kph down to 380kph for the Centodieci.

Is it the most expensive Chiron derv?

Nope. That honour goes to La Voiture Noire, a one-off fetched for 11 million euros (374 million baht). The Centodieci, with only 10 to be made (and obviously sold out already), goes for 8 million euros (272 million baht). Multiply those figures by three to see how much they cost on Thai shores if taxed fully.

Apart from distinctive designs, these Chiron dervs all have slightly different driving characteristics.

The Chiron Sport has been tuned for handling with stiffer suspension, while La Voiture Noire has a more comfort-oriented setup with softer dampers.

The Divo, meanwhile, has been tailored with track performance in mind. By paying attention to aero details, it has the most downforce and highest level of lateral acceleration.

As for the Centodieci, Bugatti says it’s all about straight-line performance in the real-world.


First Chiron came in 2016 with 1,500hp.
