SET-listed Samart Telcoms (Samtel), an ICT solutions provider, aims to raise revenue derived from airport digital solutions to 25% of total revenue by 2022 from 17% expected this year.

Airport digital solutions are expected to reach 1.7 billion baht this year, said Jong Diloksombat, president of Samtel.

The company also targets revenue of 10 billion baht again this year after achieving the threshold in 2011, based on the government's policy of digital infra-transformation, including increasing demand for airport digital solutions development.

Several airports in provinces are in the process of enhancing airport solutions by using tech to keep pace with the rising number of passengers buoyed by the government's tourism promotion efforts.

Samtel provides digital solutions or common-use passenger processing systems (CUPPS) to seven airports.

CUPPS describes the range of services, specifications and standards enacted to enable multiple airlines, service providers or other users to share physical check-in or gate podium positions simultaneously or consecutively.

The seven airports include six operated by Airports of Thailand, including Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang, as well as Krabi airport, operated by the Airports Department.

Mr Jong said the company began providing CUPPS to Krabi airport last November under a five-year contract worth 105 million baht.

"Providing airport solutions does not generate huge revenue streams for each airport, but it will generate recurring revenue to the company in the long term," he said.

Samtel also provides ICT solutions to state enterprises and has a project backlog worth 15 billion baht from these state enterprises.

Samtel's revenue for the first quarter amounted to 2.1 billion baht, up 50% from a year earlier.

Net profit leapt 150% to 150 million baht from 60.6 million for the same period.

The company's revenue contribution to Samart Corporation accounts for 50% of the parent's total revenue.
