Nok Air kicks off new Mae Sot-Yangon route

TAK: Nok Air launched its maiden flight from Mae Sot to Yangon on Sunday to link the bustling border district with the commercial capital of Myanmar.

The first flight left Mae Sot airport at 11.40am on a one-hour journey to Yangon international airport, with Thai businessmen, tourists and Myanmar passengers on board.

The budget airline said it will operate five flights a week using a Q400 propeller plane which can accommodate 85 passengers.

Nok Air said it would add flights in the future if demand for the new service increases.

Tak governor Charoenrit Sanguansak welcomed the decision of the no-frills carrier, sayingit will promote tourism and trade in the district.
