A sense of relaxation and the nature of tiny underground insects are highlighted in "A Relaxed Philosophy", which is running at 6060 Arts Space until Feb 13.

On showcase are abstract paintings that render a feeling of calm by veteran artist Dinhin Rakpong-asoke who is renowned for producing black and white realistic drawings on paper, including portraits of King Rama IX.

This time around, he turns to create pure abstract paintings in bright colours as a way to satisfy his own emotions and relieve stress from his usual black and white works. He paints on canvas without planning and sketches, with the only intention to play with lines, colours, weight and textures to achieve beauty.

The exhibition also features an installation featuring a woodcut print on paper and carvings on plywood accompanied by sound and video by award-winning artist Pasutt Kanrattanasutra.

His work is inspired by the traces of termites who are both destroyers and creators of the ecosystem -- a balancing act for nature. The artist believes that all animals -- regardless of their sizes -- are equally creative artists as they can cause an impact, give inspiration, create languages and codes, and convey creativity to the world.

He compares termites to artists whose traces of wood bites or organic material are like aesthetic works of art hidden with some secret meaningful linguistic implications that are possibly reflecting on our environmental and ecological issues.

6060 Arts Space is a non-profit art venue whose doors are open to anyone to have their artworks of any genre exhibited, without charge or deduction from sales of the works. It's located on Pradiphat 21 and is open Monday to Saturday from noon to 8pm.
