Concrete Utopia

Directed by Tae-hwa Eom.

Who’s in it?

Park Seo-joon, Lee Byung-hun and Park Bo-young.

What’s it about?

While no one knows for sure how far the ruins stretch, or what the cause of the earthquake may be, in the heart of Seoul there is only one apartment building left standing. It is called Hwang Gung Apartments. As time passes, outsiders start coming in to Hwang Gung Apartments trying to escape the extreme cold. Before long, the apartment residents are unable to cope with the increasing numbers. Feeling a threat to their very survival, the residents enact a special measure.

Why watch it?

The film has been invited to the “Òrbita Competition Section” of the Sitges International Film Festival to be held from Oct 5-15. It has also made to the “Spotlight On Korea Section” at the Hawaii International Film Festival, which opens on Oct 12. The film is also slated to screen at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival in Gala section.


Takumi-kun: The Dawn Of The Long Tales

Directed by Yokoi Takeshi.

Who’s in it?

Morishita Shion and Kato Daigo.

What’s it about?

The story takes place at Shido Academy, an all-boys boarding school. Kiichi Saki is seen by his friends as a weirdo because he was afraid to touch people and doesn’t like anyone touching him. But Takumi tries to fit in with everyone with the help of Toshihisa Katakura, his best friend and roommate.

Why watch it?

It's been 15 years since the first film in the Takumi-kun series, adapted from the popular boy's love novel that sold more than 5 million copies


Black Magic Mask (Na Nathong)

Directed by Sathanapong Limwongthong.

Who’s in it?

Inthira “Sine” Charoenpura, Praiya “Milky” Padungsuk, Jarupong “Jack” Kluaymaingam, Lee Long Shi and Savika “Tuang" Kanjanamas.

What’s it about?

Aim is a prostitute who lives in a slum and is often gang-raped. She has a hard life but wants to have a luxurious life and escape from hardship. One day, Aim received advice from a procurer who is in the same brothel to meet with a master who has black magic. He tells Aim to do the ritual, but before the master starts the ritual, he tells Aim the conditions: “In this world nothing is free. If you are thinking of doing it, you must accept the consequences.”

Blue Beetle

Directed by Angel Manuel Soto.

Who’s in it?

Bruna Marquezine, Xolo Maridueña and Susan Sarandon.

What’s it about?

An alien relic chooses Jaime Reyes to be its symbiotic host, bestowing the teenager with a suit of armour that's capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero, Blue Beetle

Why watch it?

The film was originally set to be released on Max (formally HBO) but it was later changed for cinemas.
