50 Cent to return to Bangkok in December

Get 'In Da Club' with the American rapper

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

This is a bit of short notice but welcoming news for hip-hop fans nonetheless. Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson announced the addition of a Bangkok date to his 'The Final Lap Tour'.

Jackson will perform on Dec 19 at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of his debut album Get Rich Or Die Tryin', which shares the same name with a 2005 crime drama film starring Jackson himself. Feeling old yet?

It'll be his return to Thailand in 17 years. The last time he was here performing was in 2006 with Fort Minor, a hip-hop side project by Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park. It took place at Muang Thong Thani's Active Square and a top-tier ticket cost B2,500. Feeling the inflation yet?

Emmy and Grammy award-winning multi-hyphenate 50 Cent (no 's') kicked off 'The Final Lap Tour' in Salt Lake City and has made stops across North America and is in Europe before heading to Australia, New Zealand and Asia in December.

Produced by Live Nation Tero, The Final Lap Tour has featured the rap icon performing dozens of fan favourites and chart-topping hits along with select tracks that have not been performed live in decades.

While kids these days may know him for his unkind words for Madonna's risque IG photos, 50 Cent rose to fame with his record-breaking debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin', which had everyone back then jamming to In Da Club. Since then, he has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and received many prestigious awards.

Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ was one of the fastest-selling albums making the rapper rich, but he also raked in around US$100 million when Vitaminwater, in which he held shares, was sold to Coca-Cola for US$4.1 billion in cash. Jackson also holds the record for the highest-rated premiere of a series ever on Starz with Power Book II: Ghost.

Live Nation Tero members can get their hands on tickets to “50 Cent The Final Lap Tour in Bangkok” on Nov 10 from 10am-10pm. General sales start the following day at 10am. There are six ticket tiers priced at B6,000 (VIP standing), B4,500, B4,000 (standing), B3,500, B3,000 (standing) and B2,500. Visit livenationtero.co.th.
