Veteran actress Patravadi joins 'The White Lotus Season 3'

Thai dramatic arts matriarch checks into the famous resort

As the filming of the award-winning HBO Original series 'The White Lotus' begins in in Thailand next month, veteran actress Patravadi "Lek" Mejudhon will join the cast.

The new cast of "The White Lotus Season 3" has been recently revealed with stars such as Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Jason Issacs, Parker Posey and Michelle Monaghan and Patravadi becomes the third Thai actor to appear in the series alongside Tayme Thapthimthong and Dom Hetrakul. The series will begin production in and around Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok in February and will follow a new group of guests at another White Lotus property.

Since her debut in the film industry, Patravadi has been a pioneering force in the world of performing arts, on stages or screens. Patravadi won Best Actress at the Takkata Thong Awards for her role in Mai Mee Sawan Samrab Khun (1973), her breakout role, and, more recently, has a resurgence by playing matriarch grandma in the Thai-Chinese family drama series In Family We Trust (2018). The director and playwright was previously named National Artist in Performing Arts in 2015 and was presented with royal trophies by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

HBO has partnered with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to support the filming and promotion of the third instalment. The first season, which premiered in July 2021 and was set in Hawaii, received 20 Emmy nominations across 13 categories and 10 wins, the most wins of any programme that year, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. The second season, which premiered in December 2022, was set in Sicily and garnered 23 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series.
