During high school, Nam Ha-neul (Park Shin-hye) and Yeo Jeong-woo (Park Hyung-sik) were rivals. After graduating from university, Nam becomes an anaesthesiologist while Yeo becomes a successful cosmetic surgeon. However, their lives do not go as smoothly as expected.

Nam's superior takes credit for her work and blames her for his mistakes. When Nam decides to quit her job, she discovers that she has depression. Meanwhile, one of Yeo's clients dies on his operating table which leads to a lawsuit and significant debt.

Yeo moves to live in the rooftop room of a house owned by Nam's mother. At their lowest point, the two rivals become allies who support each other through difficulties.

Doctor Slump is entertaining, especially the flashback scenes of their competitions during high school. The investigation into the death of Yeo's client keeps viewers eagerly anticipating new episodes every weekend.
