Art viewers are encouraged to ponder their emotional security during "Illusion Of Stability", which is running at RCB Galleria 1 of River City Bangkok, Charoen Krung 24, until April 23.

This is the first solo exhibition by Wal Chirachaisakul who brings a curated collection of 30 oil paintings created during the past five years that invite viewers to peel back the layers of strength.

Grand in scale yet introspective, the works reflect the paradox of what people around the globe relentlessly seek and strive for -- a quest for emotional security, a pursuit commonly known as stability.

Wal took an inspiration from his observation of the human experience both in himself and from people around him who collectively strive to seek refuge for their soul during the quest for meaning in life -- whether it be leaning on religious beliefs, accumulating wealth, crafting their own identities and social statuses, or even entrusting stability to various societal systems.

His works are full of symbols. The chada headdress represents nobility and purity, a golden mask is a metaphor for self-creation, while gold and glistening coins symbolise the elusive power of wealth and the currency that whispers authority and dominance.

Wal is an exceptionally talented artist who infuses his artwork with a unique perspective on both self and society, woven into the narratives painted on canvas. His creations have become widely recognised among renowned museums and art institutions.

There is no admission fee. Visit rivercitybangkok.com or call 02-237-0077.
