'Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire' is the sequel to 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' and the fifth film in the franchise

New releases that hit cinemas in Thailand this week.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

Directed by Gil Kenan.

Who’s in it?

Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon and Finn Wolfhard.

What’s it about?

The Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

Why watch it?

The movie opens with a 1923 part poem from Robert Frost's Fire and Ice: "But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate, To say that for destruction ice, Is also great, And would suffice..."


Morrison

Directed by Phuttiphong Aroonpheng.

Who’s in it?

Hugo Chulachak Chakrabongse, Chicha Amatayakul and Joe Cummings.

What’s it about?

Jimmy, a 40-year-old former pop-star turned engineer, is sent to the region of his childhood to supervise the renovation of an old hotel. Once settled, Jimmy finds out the once flamboyant hotel has become a ruin, a maze of narrow corridors and a relic of a bygone era, which still bears the scars of the American occupation. In the heart of this mysterious place, Jimmy will wander between dream and fantasy and retrace his family's history.

Why watch it?

The hotel today is composed of the remnants of a paradise, while the people who remain struggle with a life of hardship. Through the decaying hotel, Morrison presents a projection of the aftermath of American power during the Cold War, whose wounds still haunt Thai society decades later.


Civil War

Directed by Alex Garland.

Who’s in it?

Nick Offerman, Kirsten Dunst and Wagner Moura.

What’s it about?

A journey across a dystopian future America, following a team of military-embedded journalists as they race against time to reach DC before rebel factions descend upon the White House.

Why watch it?

Alex Garland’s last film as director.


April, Come She Will

Directed by  Tomokazu Yamada

Who’s in it?

Takeru Satoh, Masami Nagasawa and Nana Mori.

What’s it about?

Shun Fujishiro is a psychiatrist and works at a university hospital in Tokyo. He is engaged to Yayoi Sakamoto. One day in April, when he is about to marry Yayoi Sakamoto, he receives a letter from his first love Haru Iyoda. They dated 10 years ago. Suddenly, his fiancé Yayoi Sakamoto disappears.

Based on novel Shigatsu ni Nareba Kanojo wa by Genki Kawamura (published November 4, 2016).
