Palette Artspace presents "From A 2 BKK", an art exhibition that celebrates the details of ordinary travellers in the city of Bangkok, until June 30.

Curated by Art Theory 14, a group of graduate students from the Department of Art Theory, Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University, the exhibition portrays colourful and interesting cultural diversities in this bustling city by three Bangkok-based artists.

As an American visual artist who takes a taxi to travel through Bangkok every day, Dale Konstanz captures the sentimental side of the taxi drivers who often migrate to Bangkok, trying to make a living by driving many hours a day in a small and cramped space.

His photographs record his own journey and also reflect the value held by these drivers, who constantly travel and struggle to thrive in the busy city simultaneously.

Calling himself "an office worker by day but a photographer by heart", Thamarong Wanarithikul displays photos of workers in the back of a pickup stuck in traffic.

Captured from a pedestrian bridge on his way to work on the same route and at the same time every day, the photos feature activities, gestures and emotions of the workers with their belongings.

The full details in each photo reflect their sensitive backgrounds, ways of life and dreams of opportunity as they travel to construction sites in the city of Bangkok.

Reputed for presenting stories of everyday life in a thought-provoking way, independent filmmaker Sompot Chidgasornpongse puts on screen a 16-minute short film titled Bangkok In The Evening that reflects the chaotic nature of the ever-changing-never-stop-moving capital in the most delicate way.

Shot from many locations for only 40 seconds a day at 6pm, it shows how all movement is suspended temporarily once the Thai national anthem is played throughout the country.

Palette Artspace is on Sukhumvit 55 and opens daily from 8am to 8pm. Call 064-587-6788.
