Back in 2010, Chopard's co-president and artistic director Caroline Scheufele designed 150 high-jewellery pieces for the Animal World collection to mark the company's 150th anniversary.

This year, sparkling critters are among the 73 pieces under the Red Carpet collection, which in normal circumstances would be unveiled at the Festival de Cannes.

However, the 73rd edition of the festival was cancelled due to Covid-19 and hence there wasn't a red carpet for the launch of Chopard's creations.

Nevertheless, throughout 2020, the maison has consistently rolled out the pieces from the new nature-themed collection. The beauty of flora and fauna is celebrated through the designs and meticulous craftsmanship nurtured at its ateliers in Geneva, Switzerland.

The artistry is powered by emotions, expressed in the brand's campaign tagline "The Artisan Of Emotions – Since 1860".

It's actually a feat for the artisans as the number of high-jewellery pieces increases each year to equal the edition of the festival.

Scheufele launched the Red Carpet Collection 13 years ago when the international film festival reached its 60th year.

"The size of Red Carpet pieces won't necessarily increase each year since they're pretty big already. Over the years, they have become more elaborate and colourful through different materials and gemstones," she said.

For instance, rubies, coloured sapphires, aquamarines and diamonds shimmer on the Koi necklace in Fairmined-certified ethical titanium as well as white and rose gold.

Fairmined-certified ethical gold is used for high-jewellery creations while precious stones are also sourced from suppliers that comply with social, environmental and ethical standards.
