Chinese New Year celebrations in Thailand will be different this year. With a new surge in Covid-19 cases coupled with the year-long pandemic, many festive events have been cancelled to curb the spread of the virus. Therefore, it is no surprise that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration decided to cancel the Lunar New Year celebration in Chinatown this year.

However, the Chinese New Year spirit is still in the air as various shopping malls and department stores around town have put up auspicious and vibrant displays to celebrate the occasion.

In light of this year's Chinese New Year celebration, which takes place from tomorrow until Friday, Life brings you the colours of Lunar New Year festivities in Bangkok.
