Lee goes underground with Keith Haring

In the 1980s, Keith Haring's widely recognised style defined the zeitgeist of the New York street scene.

His graffiti-like imagery of partying DJs, dogs and other stylised figures in rapid rhythmic lines were splashed on the Big Apple's subway stations' advertising and poster spaces.

His art literally emerged from the underground. With increasing recognition, Haring created larger scale commissioned works, which became his iconic and colourful murals. Between 1982 and 1989, he produced more than 50 public works in dozens of cities around the globe.

Haring also addressed diverse social issues in his works. In addition, the late American artist had always wanted his art to be accessible and his Pop Shop in Soho sold T-shirts, toys, posters, buttons and magnets bearing his images.

His radiant heart, dancing figures and barking dog motifs are being featured in the Lee X Keith Haring collection for spring-summer 2021.

The "Art Inspires Life Inspires Lee" campaign features a vivacious video showing models hanging out on the street wearing the pieces and having fun imitating the iconic poses of Haring's dancing figures on the walls behind. They playfully photograph themselves having a blast and share their images on their social media.

Key men's pieces include a two-tone denim jacket, a bold red jacket, and baggy buttoned-up loose-fit coveralls for that classic Lee workwear look.

A black sweatshirt with Haring's signature across the arm can be matched with light-washed tapered cut jeans embroidered with his barking dog motif.

Women can strut a more laidback look by pairing baggy tapered cut jeans with a red sweatshirt featuring Keith Haring's dynamic dancers and barking dogs in bold black lines.

The collection is also about positivity and inspiring people to love a little more in challenging times.
