Banyan Tree Group is encouraging guests to help in "Restoring Our Earth" -- the theme of this year's Earth Day which falls on Thursday -- by introducing an "Earth Day Getaway" campaign that offers up to 35% discounts for stays from Thursday to May 5 at 39 properties globally.

Each night's purchase or stay during the period will contribute US$2 (approximately 64 baht) to earthday.org and its reforestation programme and The Canopy Project, an initiative that works with groups around the world to plant trees for a greener future.

Tree-planting is not new to the Group which introduced the Greening Communities programme in 2007 to raise awareness of climate change and planted over half-a-million trees in local communities where its hotels and resorts operate.

In Thailand, the "Earth Day Getaway" offer will be available at seven properties -- Banyan Tree Bangkok, Banyan Tree Phuket, Banyan Tree Samui, Banyan Tree Krabi, Angsana Laguna Phuket, Angsana Villas Resort Phuket and Cassia Phuket.

Although international travel has been suspended, the Group's Guest Engagement programme typically available during one's stay will extend online to continue raising awareness and engagement in sustainability-related activities.

From Thursday until May 14, a weekly challenge will be announced on Banyan Tree Group's Instagram channel (@banyantreehotels), inviting people to share creative efforts to be more environmentally friendly in line with the theme "Restoring Our Earth".

Participation will get entry to lucky draws for one-night stays and winners will be announced every week.
